The Knights of Columbus Council 15265

The Knights of Columbus is an organization dedicated to the service of our Holy Church and its clergy.  We serve God by serving others in need and in our parish ministries.

We have an open invitation for all practicing Catholic men ages 18 and over to join us.
Every Saturday prior to the 5 pm Mass we pray the Rosary, beginning at 4:30 pm.
Our business meetings are held on the 1st Thursday of each month at 7:00 PM in Meeting Room #2.

The Knights of Columbus offers free online classes for anyone wishing to know their faith better.  The Catholic Information Service provides full courses in PDF form and some are available as audio mp3 files.  The Catechism-based Luke E. Hart Course, the topical Veritas Course, and a fully searchable Online Catechism are all available at

Among our many ongoing activities are our Pancake Breakfasts to help raise money for our many projects.  Check out our weekly parish bulletin for announcements sponsored by the Knights.

Activities / Events:

Beginning in the 1840s, waves of European immigrants swelled the ranks of Catholics in the United States, and along with that came an increasingly anti-Catholic, anti-immigrant backlash from the Protestant majority. Catholics were subject to discrimination, slander, ridicule, anti-Catholic propaganda and sometimes mob violence.  It was within this hostile climate that Father Michael J. McGivney founded the Knights of Columbus in 1882. He and the founding Knights chose as the Order’s patron Christopher Columbus — one of the few Catholics considered a hero of American history. Father McGivney believed the explorer represented both Catholicism and patriotism at the very root of America’s heritage, thereby symbolizing that faithful Catholics also can be solid American citizens.

A decade later, as the Order celebrated its patron on the 400th anniversary of his discovery, President Benjamin Harrison proclaimed a national Columbus holiday. He called for “expressions of gratitude to Divine Providence for the devout faith of the discoverer, and for the Divine care and guidance which has directed our history and so abundantly blessed our people.”  Colorado became the first state to establish Columbus Day in 1907, and others soon followed. In 1934, with strong urging and support by the Knights, President Franklin D. Roosevelt and Congress made Columbus Day a federal holiday, mandating its first annual observance on Oct. 12, 1937.

Congratulations to our new Brother Knights who joined us at our Admission Degree this past Tuesday, March 13, and thanks to Father Lesak and Deacon Sigfrido for their assistance in our membership drive.  For those who couldn’t make it, there is another opportunity this Tuesday, March 20, as St. Barnabas in Arden is offering Admission and Formation Degrees.  Please contact Grand Knight Ozzie Vargas if interested in attending.

It’s that time of year again.  The Knights of Columbus is selling tickets for the annual state raffle.  Tickets cost $5.00 each.  Half of the money goes to the State Council for operating expenses, and the other half stays here with our Council, enabling us to do the many projects we do in the church and community.  There are seven cash prizes this year, with the grand prize being $5,000.  Please support our Council and say “yes” when a Brother Knight offers to sell you a ticket.

Congratulations to our Past Grand Knight, John Gales, on his appointment as one of the District Wardens for District 17.  He will assist with ceremonials and fill in for the District Deputy when he is unavailable.

Prayer for Our Country

God of all nations,
Father of the human family,
we give you thanks for the freedom we exercise
and the many blessings of democracy we enjoy
in these United States of America.

We ask for your protection and guidance
for all who devote themselves to the common good,
working for justice and peace at home and around the world.

We lift up all our duly elected leaders and public servants,
those who serve us as President, as legislators and judges,
those in the military and law enforcement.
Heal us from our differences and unite us, O Lord,
with a common purpose, dedication, and commitment to achieve liberty and justice
in the years ahead for all people,
and especially those who are most vulnerable in our midst.
