Finance Council

The Financial Plan contained within the overall Parish Pastoral Plan (revised July 2018) is a combination of three distinct sources of data. The first source is the normal operating budget of the church, with dollars based on the 2017-2018 Operating Budget and projected out annually for remaining Plan years through 2023.  The second source is expenses anticipated in support of the various Commissions' goals and action steps that are contained within this Parish Pastoral Plan. The final source is an estimate of capital replacement expenses to be required in years beyond 2023, for which we will be planning and saving during the next five years.

We will hold a second collection once a month to help offset the shortfall in our monthly mortgage obligation. The Finance Council in preparing the budget became concerned about how we would be able to meet our monthly mortgage obligation when the funds from FFHL are depleted. After much discussion it was decided that since the regular offertory covers the operational expenses of the Church and not the debt service we would need to begin a second collection for the mortgage. It is important that this second collection remains just that and not a split off from the regular weekly offertory Just as for our family we allocate money for our rent/mortgage and a separate amount for our other expenses, so must we do so for our Church Family.

We need COUNTERS to tally your generous contributions to our Church. Money needs to be counted and credited to the donor(s) so the year-end tax statements are accurate.

If you are available on Monday mornings, WE NEED YOU!

Please contact Trish Nicoll at 828-670-0051 to let us know if you can volunteer your time & talents, and we will set up training for this important task.

In 2000, our parish began a process of discernment, leading to the brave new chapter in our living history.

In 2004, we began the initial Capital Campaign and purchased the present site on Asbury Road to construct our new home for St. Joan of Arc Parish.

In 2006, construction began.

In 2007, construction was complete and our parish family moved into our beautiful new home.

Between the initial Capital Campaign, the funds we received from the sale of the old church property, and the generous financial support of our parish family, we have already reduced the debt on our new home by over 45%.  It was no easy task, but we all came together to make it happen.

The challenge before our parish family now is to continue our "Journey of Faith", reduce the debt on our new spiritual home, and support the ongoing operating expenses of our parish.  Reducing our financial burden is a necessary step in helping our parish be the strong spiritual force we all know it can be.

Together we can continue on this, our Journey of Faith!

Please contact Trish Nicoll (Chairperson), Katie Boyea, John Gales, Jeanne Duncan, or Father Dean Cesa if you wish any further information on this worthwhile effort.
